International Symposium on the Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes and Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders
September 14-18, 2022
The Ehlers-Danlos Society is delighted to announce the dates for the International Symposium on the Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes and Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders. This will be a hybrid event with options to join in person or virtually. Virtual registration options will be released in 2022.
The International Symposium on the Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes (EDS) and Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders (HSD) is a state-of-the-art meeting in which new research on clinical advances and the molecular and pathogenic mechanisms underlying EDS and related syndromes will be discussed. The International Consortium on Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes and Related disorders is bringing together leading experts, clinicians, and scientists in the field of the Ehlers-Danlos syndromes and hypermobility spectrum disorders for a high quality, scientific program with a focus on Translational Medicine in EDS and HSD – from Basic Science to Community.
We strongly encourage clinicians and researchers with an interest in the Ehlers-Danlos syndromes to attend this meeting – the multidisciplinary nature of the conference provides an opportunity to talk to specialists from many different fields including basic scientists, geneticists, internists, orthopedic and vascular surgeons, dentists, pediatricians, physiotherapists, genetic counselors, nurses, and others working with the Ehlers-Danlos syndromes and hypermobility spectrum disorders.
September 14-17 is suitable for Healthcare Professionals. September 18 is suitable for members of the EDS and HSD community, their families, and caregivers. Healthcare Professionals who wish to learn from a lay perspective are also encouraged to join us for Community Day.
Highlights will include:
- An exciting program of invited speakers and lectures featuring some of the world’s leading experts in the field
- An exhibition area and poster sessions
- Gala dinner
Early Bird Registration pricing is available until July 1, 2022. After July 1, 2022, full registration costs will apply.

A substantial number of submitted abstracts will be selected for platform presentation, the remainder of selected abstracts will be presented during an interactive poster session. Suggested topics are as follows:
- Molecular pathogenesis of EDS and related disorders
- Genotype/phenotype correlations in EDS
- Lessons learned from EDS animal models
- Natural history and disease manifestations of EDS and HSD
- Genetic and environmental modifiers of EDS – phenotypic variability
- Insights regarding vascular manifestations in the different types of EDS and in HSD
- Insights regarding co-morbidities in the different types of EDS and HSD
- Insights regarding pain in EDS and HSD
- Psycho-social aspects of EDS and HSD
Abstract submissions will be open from December 6, 2021, until March 5, 2022.
