The Hypermobility Syndromes Association
London, United Kingdom
About this Group
Founded in 1992, The Hypermobility Syndromes Society is a patient-led UK-based Charitable Incorporated Organisation providing quality information and peer support to everyone with symptomatic hypermobility – whatever the cause, however mildly or severely they may be affected, and whether or not they are diagnosed.
With a holistic, solution-focused approach to living well with a hypermobility syndrome, our expert patients, volunteers, and medical advisory board provide management-focused patient support groups, educational programs, information, and advice to hypermobile people and their wider support network, including health and social care, medical and allied health practitioners.
The HMSA also assists with participant recruitment for research projects involving hypermobility and/or related conditions (including, but not limited to other HDCTs such as Lloys-Dietz, Stickler syndrome, Pseudoxanthoma elasticum, Osteogenesis imperfecta, Marfans syndrome) and regularly collaborates with other organisations to help develop tools and systems that improve access to services for patients dealing with symptomatic hypermobility.
While the UK remains the central focus of the HMSA’s work, much of the information provided, and pastoral work undertaken by the volunteer team, is a useful resource for an increasingly global following. Anyone can join the HMSA with Individual, Family and Professional memberships available on our website.
