Appeal launched to send Aylesford boy, 7, to USA for specialist brain tumour treatment

A charity appeal has been launched to raise funds for a seven-year-old boy to travel to the USA and undergo vital specialist treatment for a rare brain tumour.

Jamie-Lee Dearing, from Aylesford, has endured a life-long battle with illness, and needs crucial proton beam therapy treatment for a rare low-grade glioma of the fourth ventricle – in his brain stem – which causes him to vomit up to 15 times a day.

His tumour is inoperable, and conventional radiation treatment could cause permanent damage to healthy brain tissue, meaning Jamie-Lee’s only chance of living a normal life is such treatment in America.
