Cork woman suffering from rare condition makes heartbreaking decision not to have childrenPosted March 3, 2016
A woman suffering from a degenerative genetic condition has told of her heartbreak after making the decision not to have children, in case she passed on the gene.
Amy Foley, 29, from Midleton in Co Cork has Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), an extremely rare progressive tissue disorder which affects nearly all the major organs in her body.
Amy has said she feels “completely trapped” by both her illness and the welfare system, who could take away her disability benefits if she moves in with her fiancee.
