Olivia Ong
About these Clinics/Practices
Dr Olivia Ong is a pain specialist, rehabilitation medicine specialist and health coach with 15 years experience, with particular expertise in complex chronic pain conditions and a special interest in female pelvic pain. Her comprehensive approach to pain management and rehabilitation is particularly valuable for patients with hypermobility-related conditions.
After being hit by a car in 2008, Olivia was told she would never walk or practice medicine again. She spent years as a patient in hospitals and rehab facilities in Australia and US in an attempt to regain her capabilities. This profound personal experience with complex rehabilitation and chronic pain management gives her a unique understanding of the challenges faced by patients with persistent pain and mobility issues. After an intensive three-year recovery process, she walked again. Today she shares her experience and insights with others, bringing a deep empathy to her work with patients managing chronic conditions.
Her approach to pain management incorporates both traditional medical expertise and mindfulness-based techniques, recognizing the importance of whole-person care that many EDS/HSD patients require. As the founder and CEO of The Heart-Centred Method Institute Pty Ltd, she advocates for comprehensive, patient-centered care that addresses both physical and emotional aspects of chronic conditions.
As a Physician Entrepreneur, Olivia has been awarded the Disabled Business Excellence Silver Award by the founders of AusMumpreneurs, Peace Mitchell and Katy Garner, for demonstrating her leadership, resilience and business skills in establishing her company against all odds.
Olivia has been featured in and written for Thrive Global, Yahoo Finance, International Business Times Singapore, and Australian Business Journal. Her media appearances include Sky News, Studio 10 and Ticker TV, and she regularly gives talks about topics such as chronic pain management and how mindfulness and self-compassion can transform chronic pain at industry-leading events including Australasian New Zealand College of Anaesthesia and Faculty of Pain Medicine.
