I am a specialist in Rheumatology and Sport & Exercise Medicine. Over the last 20 years I have built up a Rheumatology and SEM service in the NHS. This has including the setting up and development of a Multi-Discipliniary Hypermobility outpatient and inpatient service at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in 2008. The hospital now has the biggest inpatient service for joint hypermobility in the UK. In 2012 I set up a Dance medicine service at the RNOH. We have seen over 1200 dancers with injuries and medical problems since then. This has included dancers with joint hypermobility and associated injuries. I have a strong belief in holistic medicine. This includes the use of exercise as treatment for a wide range of chronic conditions. This is very often more effective than medication. I therefore prescribe exercise on a regular basis both in the treatment and in the prevention of disease. I also strongly believe in the multi-discipliniary approach to the management of chronic diseases and especially in the management of patients with joint hypermobility.
