About these Clinics/Practices

Shannon Harris, MPT, OCS, is co-founder of Body Reform and creator of The Bowstring Method® of manual physical therapy. The 100+ techniques and protocols of The Bowstring Method® affect positive and long-lasting changes throughout the body in an intense but joint-friendly way that’s uniquely tolerable to the client. This system addresses the hypo-mobility that often plays a significant role in pain and injuries for people with hEDS. Hypo-mobility (often experienced as stiffness) is a protective mechanism that limits the amount of movement in one or multiple parts of the body when another area is unstable. For instance, if your lumber spine is hyper-mobile and moves too much, your thoracic spine and hip flexors may get overly stiff or hypo-mobile in an attempt to stabilize your torso. If the rigid hypo-mobile areas of your body keep you from finding and maintaining proper joint positioning while in movement, it can result in increased tissue breakdown in the hyper-mobile body part.

The Bowstring Method®, combined with our posture-focused movement and exercise programs, greatly benefits patients with connective tissue complications, such as Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder (HSD) or Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS).
