I work as a clinical geneticist in the Petrovsky National Research Centre of Surgery. My clinical experience as a geneticist in Russia was about more than 25 years. In our Center of Surgery we have considerable number of patients with different forms of connective tissue disorders. There are nineteen several Departments ( Surgery of Aorta and branches, Orthopedic Surgery and oth) giving special surgical treatment, Medical Genetics Laboratory with DNA diagnostics & genetic counseling, several Departments focused on long-term follow-up for this group of patients. The largest biobank in Russia has been created containing data on patients with hereditary connective tissue dysplasias, such as Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, Marfan syndrome, Loeys-Dietz syndrome. Test systems have been developed to identify the main genetic forms (the FBN1, TGFBR1/2, COL3A1, COL5A1, PLOD1 genes, etc.) The main research interests of the doctor and the assessment issues in which she advises patients are: hereditary connective tisstissue disease,a risk of life-threatening complications, including sudden cardiac death.
