Lindsay Anne Contreras

Passed away on January 17, 2015

Lindsay Anne (Toris) Contreras, 29, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2015 after courageously battling vascular Ehlers Danlos Syndrome for five years. She worked for many years as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Howell Township Police EMS and Brick Township Volunteer EMS, until her condition worsened. She helped raise awareness about this debilitating disease. She was a wonderful wife, loving mother, caring daughter, and a friend to many. She touched so many and will truly be missed.

Lindsay found kinship and support during her EDS struggle primarily through message boards on the Ehlers Danlos National Foundation website. EDS is a disease that affects the body’s connective tissue. It is not well known and is often misdiagnosed. There is no cure and it causes multiple health problems in all parts of the body.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Contreras, and daughter, Emma Rose, as well as her parents, John and Patricia Toris, and brother, Sean Toris, and his wife, Jennifer. She is also survived by numerous, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Heaven has gained another beautiful angel to watch over us.

Donations can be made to The Ehlers-Danlos Society.
