Do you have a birthday or other special milestone in May? You can start a fundraiser to ask friends and family for a donation in place of a gift.
Sell raffle tickets where half of the money raised goes to the winner and the other half goes to The Ehlers-Danlos Society. Because the prize amount grows as the number of entries increases, encourage people through social media to recruit their friends and family to get in on the raffle action!
Challenge your friends, family, coworkers, and schoolmates to help you spread awareness by wearing zebra print, The Ehlers-Danlos Society gear, or fancy dress of your choice on scheduled days during Awareness Month. Host an online event and meet virtually with family and friends! Set a donation for people to participate and be out of dress code for the special day. Challenge participants to share with their networks, and have donations count as votes for Best Costume.
Do you like to play video games or cards or board games? Pick your favorite game, whatever platform, and organize an online tournament! Set a donation per entry or game played. If you love a family and friends quiz then why not set up a virtual meeting, create a round of questions per household, and get competitive!
Challenge players to create online fundraising pages and share with their own networks to help spread awareness worldwide!
Are you an artist? Share your talents to spread awareness! Host an online event with your fellow artists and challenge them to create the best awareness art. You can raffle or auction off the creations. Why not host a learning class online, or even schedule a virtual awareness concert, or via Facebook Live Events with a suggested donation for attendees?
Do you like to read or sew or other crafts? Host a virtual Read/Craft-A-Thon. Challenge participants to see who can read the most or complete the most crafts or other projects during Awareness Month. Host a weekly class or tutorial virtually and challenge crafters to create online pages and share with their networks to pledge a donation for every page/chapter/book read or craft/project completed.
