‘I am a disabled American veteran who served in the U.S. Army. I was always in pain, easily bruised, and ‘double-jointed.’ I joined the Army and became a single parent. While serving, I was injured and dislocated both of my hips at age 26. I spent the next twenty years living life—raising children, getting married, earning an MBA—all while dealing with medical challenges and misdiagnoses. Eventually, the VA in Kansas referred me to a genetics specialist at the Utah VA, where I was diagnosed with hEDS.’
