Ontarians should not have to plead with the provincial government in order to receive life-saving treatment for rare diseases.
That is the message being delivered by a campaign in support of a private member’s motion by Kitchener-Conestoga MPP Michael Harris that is scheduled for debate in the Ontario legislature on Feb. 25. Harris is calling for the creation of a select committee into rare disease funding.
He and Leeds-Grenville MPP Steve Clark took part in a media event and round-table discussion at the 1000 Islands Mall in Brockville last Wednesday, Feb. 3. Also on hand were several individuals who are either afflicted with rare diseases or are close to those who are afflicted.
