RARE Science, in collaboration with The Ehlers-Danlos Society, will be offering handmade RARE Bears to all children with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome and related conditions throughout the month of May. The volunteer RARE Bear Army creates one-of-a-kind teddy bears for one-of-a-kind children with rare diseases. This is a free program, thanks to the dedication of many volunteers and sponsors, and we are looking forward to sharing these bears made by hands of hope, love, and support with you!
The RARE Bear Project is a community-driven initiative and is supported by the ever-growing RARE Bear Army of volunteers. Gifted RARE bears will have a serial number specifically made for a child in the program. The RARE Bear Program is made up of 700 RARE Bear Makers around the world, spanning nine countries and 45 states in the US.
In order to request a RARE Bear for your child, please fill out the RARE Bear request form/photo consent. We ask for your child’s likes so we can match the perfect bear and also ask you to send back a picture of your child and the RARE Bear in its new home which means so much to the original bear maker and all the hands that made it possible to send a bear to your child.
To request your bear, please fill out the following form and email it to [email protected]. Requests will be accepted Friday May 5th – Friday May 19th (2017). Bears will be shipped to their new homes on June 4th.
