My diagnosis means I can give myself time and space

For decades I have been searching for the connection between all the symptoms I had. IBS-D, fatigue, joint pain, joint instability, brain fog and other symptoms were causing chronic pain and decreased mobility but I didn’t know why. It wasn’t until I retired from the military and was assigned the Pain Management & Rehabilitation (PM&R) at my local Veterans Affairs Hospital that I was finally diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome at the age of 48.

FINALLY having a diagnosis helps me to adapt my movements and has taught me how to recognize when I need to slow down and give myself time, space, and self-care.
