Genetic Counselor (UK)
Tammy Kammin
I have significant experience working with EDS having served in the National Diagnostic EDS Team in Sheffield for the last five years, where we specialise in the rare types of EDS. In this role, I am a key point of contact for EDS patients referred to our service. I also provide ongoing support to our patients diagnosed with a rare type of EDS. My weekly caseload includes speaking with patients with vascular, classical, and the rarest subtypes of EDS. Every week I join medical colleagues seeing patients in the EDS specialist clinic in Sheffield. I have had the privilege of meeting and supporting individuals with almost all the rare types of EDS. In addition, I provide professional advice and support to health professionals across the healthcare sector involved in our patient’s care.
I am particularly interested in periodontal EDS. In 2019 I undertook a research project exploring periodontal EDS. Following this I have written articles and produced patient information on this condition. I am a co-author on several publications (in-print and pending) on periodontal EDS. Most recently: Oral characteristics in adult individuals with periodontal Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (Lepperdinger U. et al. 2022).
