The Ehlers-Danlos Society

Third-Party Translations of The Ehlers-Danlos Society Content

The Ehlers-Danlos Society (,“us”, “we”, “our”, “The Society”) is an international nonprofit organization, dedicated to patient support, scientific research, advocacy, and increasing awareness for the Ehlers-Danlos syndromes and hypermobility spectrum disorders. We recognize and appreciate your interest in translating and disseminating our content. To safeguard the integrity of our intellectual property and ensure appropriate attribution, all parties engaging in the translation of citation of our materials are required to comply with the following guidelines:

Which Materials May be Translated

No Posting of Translated Articles on Third-Party Websites

  • You are not permitted to post translated versions of our articles directly on your website or any other platform. Instead, you may submit the translated article to us for publication on The Ehlers-Danlos Society website. Once published, you may provide a link to the translated content hosted on our site, ensuring that visitors are directed back to our platform.

Acknowledgement

  • Your logo and/or organization/individual name will be added to the translation as a thank you and acknowledgment.

Graphics and Design Work

Restricated Use of Original Graphics/Design

  • Our graphics, illustrations, and design elements are proprietary. You are permitted to use our original graphics with the translated document, provided that the graphics remain unchanged and are used in their original form and properly credit The Society. You may not modify, adapt, or request new graphics from us for use with your translation unless explicitly approved in writing. Please contact us if the graphic has wording that requires translating, and we can add the translation into the graphic.

Content Source and Ownership

  • You may only translate content we own or that we have received explicit permission to translate from the appropriate rights holder, such as a publisher. Externally sourced materials cannot be translated without form permission from the copyright owner. These can be identified as articles or papers on our website, see examples under resources here.
  • To translate any material not owned by The Ehlers-Danlos Society, you must first obtain written permission from the copyright owner. If you also want the translation placed on The Ehlers-Danlos Society website, you must secure permission for both your site and ours. For third-party content, such as journal articles, permission must come from the owner of the materials owned by an organization with copyright. If the content is public (e.g., diagnostic criteria or public domain material), you may host the translation on your platform, but this must be agreed upon in advance.
  • You do not acquire or retain ownership rights to translated material or to any article document or other materials provided for translation purposes.

Content Source and Ownership

Right to Modify Translations

  • We reserve the right to review and modify any translations to ensure they are accurate and consistent with our tone, style, and intent.

Updates to Translations

  • Should any changes or updates be made to the original content by our staff, we will reach out to you to request updates of the translated material. If we do not receive a response in a two-month period, we will pursue other avenues to update the translated material. We will notify you of any such updates, and the necessary revisions.
  • Please submit all translated documents to us in Word format to ensure easy publication on our website.

  • All translations published on our website or referenced on your platform must include, clearly visible at the top of the translated document, the following disclaim, in both English and in the translated language:
